How to Apply It

Assess the surface
Check what you are dealing with: moss, algae, lichen or mould. Scrape heavy moss off first.

Dilute correctly
Add the biocide to water, not water to biocide. 1:25 for roofs and render, 1:50 for ground level.

Apply evenly
Use a low-pressure sprayer or soft brush at roughly 4 m² per litre of mixed solution.

Let it weather clean
Do not rinse. Rain and weathering clear the dead growth, typically within 4 to 8 weeks.

AK Exterior Cleaning started as an exterior cleaning firm in Kettering, taking on stubborn moss, algae and lichen on roofs, render and driveways. Over years of jobs we tried a lot of professional biocides, and kept needing a stronger concentrate to get the long-lasting results our customers expected, especially on heavily contaminated, porous surfaces.
So we brought out our own. AK Exterior Biocide DDAC 50% is the product we wanted in our own vans: strong enough for the worst roofs, flexible enough to dilute right down for ground-level work, and good value per job.

Do I need training to use it?
Yes. As with every professional-use biocide, it is the user's responsibility to have the training, knowledge and competence to use it safely and correctly. Read the label and the safety data sheet before you use it.
What dilution should I use?
As an industry guideline: 1 part biocide to 25 parts water on render and on roof tiles and slates after scraping, and 1 part to 50 parts water on ground-level hard surfaces. Adjust for the surface and conditions, and always stay within the product label. Full detail on the how to use page.
How long before I see results?
The biocide kills the growth quickly, but the dead matter is cleared by rain and weathering over time, so the surface cleans up gradually. Results are typically visible within 4 to 8 weeks. Do not rinse it off.
Why choose a 50% biocide over a 10% one?
You dilute it further, so each drum makes around four to five times as much mixed solution as a 10% product. That means fewer drums to buy, carry and store, and a lower cost per square metre.
